Meet Mignon Morse: A Local Author Celebrating Friendship and Adventure in Children’s Literature

Garland, TX – Local author Mignon Morse is set to engage the community with her new children’s book, Sadie and Moose on the Loose, during a special event at Texas Roadhouse on October 29th. The event, part of a “Truck or Treat” celebration, will take place from 3 PM to 7 PM at the restaurant located at 5012 N. PGB Hwy, Garland, TX 75040.

Morse, who retired as the library manager at Sachse Public Library in 2017, has over 30 years of public library experience. With a long-standing passion for storytelling and a love for dogs, she decided to merge her interests into a delightful picture book that captures the adventures of her own dog, Sadie, and her best friend, Moose.

“I’ve always had a dream to write a book,” Morse shared during our recent interview. “This is a simple tale about Sadie and Moose as they embark on an unexpected journey after their gate comes loose, leading them to explore the world beyond their backyard.”

The book is filled with charming illustrations by Chris MacLeod, which complement Morse’s engaging rhymes, making it an enjoyable read for young audiences aged four and up. The story not only entertains but also celebrates the joy of friendship and adventure, with a heartfelt acknowledgment section that pays tribute to those who inspired her writing journey.

Morse’s work has already garnered positive reviews, including a five-star rating from Readers’ Favorite, a recognition that she plans to feature on the book’s cover. “It’s been a delightful journey for me,” she expressed. “I’m excited to share this story with young readers and their families.”

The upcoming event at Texas Roadhouse presents a unique opportunity for families to meet Morse, learn more about her book, and enjoy a festive atmosphere. “I hope to see many people come out and join in the fun. It’s a great chance for kids to hear the story and for parents to support local authors,” she said.

Books will be available for purchase at the event, and Morse is looking forward to signing copies for fans. For those unable to attend, Sadie and Moose on the Loose is also available online through Amazon.

Morse’s passion for libraries and community engagement shines through her work and her commitment to inspiring young readers. As a resident of Wylie for over 30 years, she remains deeply connected to the local area and its vibrant community.
