Garland, TX – The Lakeview Centennial Patriots kicked off the 2026 high school football season with a resounding win over the visiting Grand Prairie Gophers, 38-0 at HBJ Stadium on Thursday night. Patriots quarterback Dakari Jernigan made it look easy, throwing for three touchdowns and then running one into the end zone himself for good measure in what was a dominating performance on both sides of the ball. He finished with 211 passing yards for LC.

Charles Sanders catches a 20-yard touchdown pass.
The Patriots scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to blow the game open, but the defense was equally impressive. Anchored by two top-100 defenders in Jaxson Wilson and Montre Jackson, the LC defense held the Gophers to just 168 yards on the night.
Next up for the Patriots, they celebrate their homecoming game against the Red Oak High School Hawks at HBJ Stadium on Friday, September 4th at 7:00PM.
