Art Made Here, the family-friendly arts festival in Downtown Garland, returns to the Square March 28 from 2-8 p.m.

Free event brings together visual and performing artists, hands-on experiences, plus food, fun for all 

Garland, TX — Downtown Garland will come alive with creativity on Saturday, March 28, 2026, when Art Made Here returns for a free spring arts festival on the Downtown Garland Square from 2 to 8 p.m.

Art Made Here is a vibrant celebration of Garland’s creative spirit, bringing together visual and performing artists, hands-on experiences, and entertainment designed to make art appreciation and education accessible for all ages.

Highlights & Activities

From drum beats to dance showcases and chalk art to cowboy hats, a movie showing, and free film digitizing, Art Made Here brings Downtown Garland to life. Families can explore and participate in a variety of activities and experiences throughout the afternoon and evening,  including:

  • Art Fair – Shop artwork and handmade goods from local artists and anime artists, with a range of disciplines like painting, photography, ceramics, and more.
  • Garland ISD Make & Take – A variety of arts and crafts activities for all ages, hosted by Garland ISD Fine Arts.
  • Cowboy Hat Decorating Station – Kids can decorate a cowboy hat (hats provided) and take home a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
  • Silhouette Artist – A hand-cut silhouette portrait experience that creates a classic take-home keepsake.
  • Henna Tattoos – Temporary henna body art with a variety of design options.
  • Chalk Artists – Live chalk art featuring larger-than-life cowboy hat designs created in real time.
  • Dance and Performance Showcases – Enjoy hip-hop, hula, a DJ and more. 
  • Dumpster Beautification (Live Painting) – Watch local artists turn everyday dumpsters into bold, vibrant public art during a live painting experience.
  • Downtown Garland’s Tiny Hat Hunt – Follow clues to discover tiny brass hats hidden throughout downtown businesses and hotspots, celebrating Garland’s official designation as the Cowboy Hat Capital of Texas.
  • Movie Screening: “The Mitchells vs. the Machines” – A family screening at the Plaza Theatre (film begins at 2 p.m.).
  • Film Digitizing (Texas Film Round-Up) – Bring old home movies/videotapes to the Plaza Theatre from 4–8 p.m. for free digitization and enjoy archival Garland footage.
  • Restaurants & Food Trucks – Dine on the Square: try a new restaurant, visit an old favorite, or experience a unique line up of food vendors. 
  • Texas Film Round-up – Free film digitizing from 4-8 p.m. at the Plaza Theater.
