Garland, TX – The City of Garland is set to launch the Tap Telehealth program after Council approved to move forward with an agreement with MD Health Pathways, providing residents with access to non-emergency medical treatment via text, phone, or video call. The service is scheduled to opt-in all Garland water utility customers into the service for an added $6 per month to start. However, for those who already have insurance or access to telehealth services, there is an option to opt-out of the program before it appears on utility statements.
Every resident receiving a utility bill from the City will be automatically enrolled in the Tap Telehealth program at a rate of $6 per month, beginning next year. This service, which will be available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., aims to connect patients to doctors for non-emergent healthcare needs and is promoted as helping to reduce emergency room visits.
To opt-out, City of Garland utility account holders can send an email to optout@garlandtx.gov. The email should include the account holder’s name, address, phone number, and account number if available. This simple process ensures that residents can easily manage their participation in the program.
For additional information, including frequently asked questions about the program, residents are encouraged to visit MD Health Pathways’ website at taptelehealth.com/garland.
