Garland, TX – The Garland Public Libraries will present “Dreaming of You: The Selena Experience,” a free tribute concert honoring Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1, at the Downtown Garland Square.
Selena’s contributions to the music industry and her vibrant performances solidified her legacy as one of the most influential Latin artists of all time. Her music continues to resonate with fans and inspire new generations of artists.
During the concert, attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for an evening of music featuring popular Selena hits. Local eateries will offer food and drinks for purchase during the event.
This performance marks the transition from the summer Club Curiosity: Color Our World program to the upcoming fall initiative, One Book, One Garland. This community reading program invites adults in the Garland area to read a shared title and participate in themed events throughout the month of September. This year’s selected book is “Malas” by Marcela Fuentes, with highlights including a talk by the author and Curiosity Fest: A Garland Book Festival & Author Event on September 27.
The concert is organized in partnership with the Friends of the Library and the Downtown Development Office. Residents are invited to join the celebration on August 1, honoring Selena’s enduring legacy while also marking the launch of the fall reading initiative.
