Garland, TX – As Thanksgiving approaches, the community has exemplified the spirit of giving with numerous acts of kindness and generosity. From turkey distributions to meal kit giveaways, local organizations and residents have come together to ensure that families in need are celebrated and nourished during this holiday season.
Good Samaritans Turkey & Sides
Good Samaritans of Garland, in collaboration with Planet Ford 635, successfully distributed 252 turkeys along with bags of sides to local families. Each bag was designed to feed an entire family, providing not just a meal but also a sense of joy and togetherness during the holiday.
Hope Clinic Turkey Distribution
Equally impressive, the Hope Clinic served over 200 turkeys at their turkey distribution event, sponsored by Atmos Energy. With cars lining up well before the 9 a.m. opening, the enthusiasm in the air was palpable. Turkeys were completely distributed just minutes after the doors opened, a testament to the community’s eagerness to support one another. Eva Hummel of Atmos shared, “When we have an opportunity to give back to the community during the holidays, it is truly the heart and soul of our employees.”

Let’s Grow Networks Thanksgiving Dinner Kits
In a heartwarming initiative, Let’s Grow Networks hosted their first-ever Thanksgiving Dinner Kit Giveaway, providing over 100 families with meal kits that serve 8-10 people. The idea sprang to life just weeks before the event, demonstrating the group’s commitment to uplifting families during the holiday season.
Free Turkey & Fixings by St. Luke CUMC Men of Boanerges Discipleship Group, Missions & Community Engagement Ministry
Additionally, the St. Luke CUMC Men of Boanerges Discipleship Group, alongside the Missions & Community Engagement Ministry, held a Turkey Giveaway, complete with all the fixings. This event was part of the Loaves and Fishes outreach, embodying the call to service, as echoed in the reminder from Christ: “I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat.”
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
