Garland, TX – Cross-state rivalries are fun, and few teams have enjoyed rivalries as heated as those between the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers or between the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks. They may be bitter rivals on the court and on the field, but when the game ends they are quick to team when their fans need them most.
Last week devastating flooding along the Guadalupe River swept through Kerr County, Texas, killing 27 young girls and counselors who were at summer camp at Camp Mystic and more than 120 others. Property damage along the river has also left many residents homeless and destitute in the wake of the historic flooding.
Normally there would have been a significant and immediate response from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), but with that agency undergoing extreme cuts, urgent help is needed from the rest of us.

The Astros and Rangers did their part, donating $1 million each as they played a rivalry series in Houston, even wearing matching shirts during warm-ups. Those shirts were not made available to the public, but now the Rockets, Mavericks and Spurs have stepped up. With the teams competing in NBA summer league in Las Vegas, they will also wear special matching shirts, this time also available for anyone to purchase with proceeds going directly to aid the victims of the Kerr County floods through the Texas Sports for Healing Fund.
Now, for a limited time, all of us can buy this unique charity shirt and help our favorite heroes of the diamond and hard woods to also be heroes of the community. Order yours now at mavsshop.com.
