Spark Joy, Not Dumpster Fires: Holiday Sanitation Schedule for Garland, Rowlett, and Sachse

Garland, TX – May the caffeine be strong and the day peaceful. Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate! As I was reviewing the sanitation schedules for the holiday, I recalled several dumpster fires that occurred due to batteries being tossed in the trash. The reminder this season is to spark joy, not dumpster fires—literally and figuratively. In the spirit of the season, remember that batteries don’t belong in the trash. Please note that sanitation services will have adjusted schedules across Garland, Rowlett, and Sachse this week.

City of Garland:
The Garland Sanitation Department will be closed on Thursday, December 25, in observance of Christmas. Trash, recycling, and brush and bulky collection scheduled for this day will be moved to Friday, December 26. Collections originally planned for Friday will take place on Saturday, December 27. Residents are urged to have their containers ready at the usual collection points and ensure clear access for collection vehicles. Additionally, both the Transfer Station and Recycle Center will be closed to the public on December 25 and December 26.

City of Rowlett:
Rowlett residents should note that there will be no trash collection on Christmas Day, and all sanitation services will be delayed by one day.

City of Sachse:
Sachse residents will experience a similar adjustment, with CWD services sliding over one day. This means Thursday pickups will occur on Friday and Friday pickups will be on Saturday.

Let’s remember to handle waste responsibly and make sure all holiday cheer is handled with care!
