Garland, TX – One week ago, National Night Out was celebrated across the Tri-Cities, as first responders, community leaders, and police departments connected with residents in a series of engaging neighborhood events. The annual event, held nationwide, aims to promote neighborhood camaraderie, strengthen police-community partnerships, and raise awareness about crime and drug prevention.
Communities came alive with activities that fostered connections and built trust between law enforcement and residents. In Castlewood’s neighborhood, families enjoyed an impressive drone show. Meanwhile, in South Garland’s Rustic Oaks, residents had the opportunity to explore a BearCat and meet one of Garland PD’s canine officers.
President of Rustic Oaks HOA, Tommy Zapata shared, “The National Night Out really turned out successfully. Over a hundred people!”
Ken Herman of Castlewood Neighborhood added, “We’re so thankful to have spent National Night Out with our neighbors and city officials — it’s nights like these that remind us how lucky we are to live in a community that truly looks out for one another.”

Throughout the evening, officers mingled with community members, with many attending multiple National Night Out celebrations to engage with residents wherever they gathered. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and conversation as neighbors gathered for a fun family night. Many families took advantage of the event to meet new friends and learn more about the services available in their communities.
In addition to the engaging activities, many neighborhoods offered food, games, and entertainment, making the night a true celebration of community unity. Mark your calendars for next year’s National Night Out, which takes place on the first Tuesday in October!
