Garland, TX – Excitement is brewing in Garland as the city prepares to welcome two new restaurants, Tacos Y Vino and Lockwood Distilling Co., to its growing culinary landscape. As demand for diverse dining options increases, these establishments promise to bring unique flavors and experiences to the community.

Lockwood Distilling Co., known for its Richardson location, is anticipated to draw food enthusiasts with a menu featuring southern delights such as Dirty South Tots, Lockwood Cracklings, Deviled Eggs, Smoked Bologna Muffaletta, Shrimp and Grits, and Crawfish Monica. The restaurant’s commitment to elevated southern cuisine has garnered support from the Original Foodies Group, a local collective passionate about enhancing Garland’s dining scene.

Members of the Original Garland Foodies Group have expressed interest in the arrival of Southern Comfort and Cajun cuisine. One member expressed a desire for authentic Cajun flavors, stating, “Real South Louisiana food like my grandma used to make.” Another member added, “All of this! Real boudin, cracklins, chargrilled oysters and French bread po’boys.”

Tacos Y Vino is also generating buzz as it blends Mexican cuisine with wine options, appealing to those seeking a unique dining experience. Their anticipated opening date is scheduled sometime this month. The restaurant will be located at 706 Main Street, in a space formerly occupied by Jim’s Barber Shop.  Members of the Foodies Group are expressing their hopes for more unique elements in local dining.

The anticipation for these new restaurants reflects a broader trend in Garland, where residents are increasingly seeking diverse culinary offerings. The Original Foodies Group has shared a variety of other cuisines they hope to see in the area, including Mediterranean, Indian, Cajun, and Korean. With the community eagerly anticipating these new dining options, the additions come at a time when city amenities are improving, more residential developments are underway, and an increasing number of individuals are considering Garland as an ideal place to live.
