City of Garland Announces Promotions in Leadership Team

Garland, TX – In a recent announcement, the City of Garland has named Matthew Watson and Allyson Steadman to expanded roles within the city administration.

Matthew Watson has been promoted to Assistant City Manager. Previously serving as Garland’s Chief Financial Officer, Watson played a crucial role in enhancing organizational operations and advancing long-range planning efforts. In his new capacity, Watson will oversee an expanded portfolio of city functions. He is expected to provide high-level strategic direction and support initiatives that drive innovation and responsiveness, contributing to Garland’s long-term organizational success.

Allyson Steadman has been elevated to the position of Chief Financial Officer. With nearly a decade of experience in the City’s financial leadership team, Steadman most recently served as Garland’s Budget & Financial Strategy Director. In that role, she was instrumental in the development of the City’s annual budget and worked collaboratively with various departments to ensure the responsible stewardship of public resources. As CFO, Steadman will lead the overall financial strategy for the City, providing comprehensive fiscal oversight and ensuring the continued stability and sustainability of Garland’s financial operations. Her strategic insight will support the City’s priorities and help fortify its financial future.

The promotions reflect the shifts being made to maintain strong leadership as Garland navigates identifying a permanent City Manager agreement and works towards future goals.
