Garland, TX – The City of Garland is proud to announce a partnership with the Dallas Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) to provide much-needed assistance to seniors aged 60 and older who are struggling with utility payments. This initiative aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by our older residents, helping them maintain their homes and stay connected.
Eligible seniors can receive financial assistance for their utility bills, with amounts varying based on living circumstances. Specifically, seniors living alone may qualify for up to $292.35, while married seniors or caregivers of elderly individuals may receive up to $798.79. It’s important to note that late fees are not covered under this program, so residents are encouraged to act promptly.
The deadline to apply for this assistance is August 15, allowing ample time for interested individuals to gather the necessary information. The application process has been simplified to ensure that seniors do not need to fill out forms themselves. Instead, residents can send the following information to the Code Enforcement team at codenfc@garlandtx.gov:
- Full Name
- Phone Number
- Age
- Filing status (single or with a spouse)
Once the information is submitted, the Code Enforcement team will handle the rest, making it easier for seniors to access the resources they need.
