Garland, TX – Sharonda Green’s inspiring story is one of resilience and determination. Overcoming significant odds, she has not only carved out a successful career as a Financial Analyst but has also become a thriving entrepreneur with her company, Linson Eye Investigation. Her incredible journey has recently earned her the 2025 Entrepreneur Award from the NAACP Garland Unit, with a celebration planned for Saturday, September 20, 2025, during the 34th Freedom Fund Brunch at the Hyatt Place Garland, located at 5101 N President George Bush Hwy, Garland, TX.

Green grew up in Chicago, where she faced the realities of life in a tough neighborhood. As a teenager, she found herself hanging out with a rough crowd, often standing up to bullies and protecting those who needed it. At just 18, her life changed dramatically when she became a mother.
After her 20-year marriage came apart, she faced the challenging experience of divorce. It was during this time, she was preparing for her uncle’s long-awaited return home from a prison sentence—a man she admired and considered a father figure—when tragedy struck. Just before his release, he suffered a heart attack and passed away, leaving Green heartbroken and feeling lost. After experiencing these life-altering hardships, she decided to seek a fresh start, which led her to leave Chicago and move to Texas.
A visit to her cousin in Richardson changed everything for Green. “I fell in love with the area,” she recalls. “I knew I was going to move to Texas.” Initially, her family didn’t think she was serious about the move. However, after discussing it with her youngest son, who was a teen at the time, he agreed that relocating would be a positive step. Green eventually settled in Garland, where she found her community and a true sense of belonging.

She explained that the Chamber was instrumental in helping her find her community. She fondly recalled her first interaction with the Chamber’s Office Manager, Diane Whitlock, who made her feel truly welcomed. Green felt an immediate connection with Diane, which helped her feel comfortable joining the chamber. After investing much of her savings into her business, she was eager to find her community, and the Chamber turned out to be the perfect fit. Since then, she has become a strong advocate for the organization. Green shared, “Anything the chamber is doing, I am for it.”
