Garland, Texas — This Saturday morning, October 4th, at 9:40 a.m., just before The Buddy League kicks off their new season at Bradfield Park, the Garland Parks Foundation (TGPF) will proudly present a donation check to support renovations of The Buddy League’s home baseball field.
The event will feature a “big check” photo opportunity with representatives from The Buddy League, The Garland Parks Foundation, and the City of Garland — celebrating the power of nonprofits and civic partners working hand in hand.
“This is about more than dollars raised — it’s about what happens when a community comes together,” said Kenia Ott, Treasurer and Co-Founder of TGPF. “The Buddy League creates joy and opportunity for children with special needs, and we’re honored to support them as they launch another great season.”
Funds were raised earlier this year during a Holford Recreation and Aquatic Center preview fundraiser hosted by TGPF in collaboration with Garland Parks and Recreation. Proceeds totaled $1,200 and will go directly toward field improvements at Bradfield Park, ensuring that players have a safe and welcoming place to play.
The Garland Parks Foundation is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to enhancing Garland’s green spaces through its Four T’s — Trees, Trails, Trash, and Tributes — and its mission to Educate, Empower, Energize, and Engage. Supporting The Buddy League aligns perfectly with these values, showing how local nonprofits can lift each other up to make Garland stronger.
The morning will conclude with the classic call: “It’s time to Plaaaay Ball!” — a fitting tribute to partnership, teamwork, and community spirit.
