Garland, TX — When communities face challenges, dedicated leaders like Sara Kenefake step up to make a significant impact through action and compassion. As the Executive Director of Good Samaritans of Garland, Sara has been a driving force in providing essential services to those in need within the community.

Roots in Garland
A proud Garland native, Sara Kenefake has deep roots in the community she serves. After earning her degree from Dallas Baptist University, she returned to Garland with her husband, both of whom have a family history in the area. Their children are 3rd-generation Garland ISD students. Sara’s commitment to giving back was instilled in her by her parents, leading her to pursue a role in a nonprofit organization focused on serving her neighbors.
Community Engagement & Service
Sara’s involvement in the community goes beyond her role at Good Sam. She is actively engaged as a PTA Platinum Angel Member, a member of the GPD Citizen Police Academy Alumni, and a Chamber Member.
Under her leadership, Good Sam has made remarkable strides in addressing food insecurity in the DFW Metroplex. In 2024, Good Sam provided supplemental food assistance to over 202,000 individuals, distributed more than 2.5 million pounds of food, and served 62,872 households.
Good Sam’s Impact
In addition to food assistance, Good Sam has expanded its services to include a Weekend Bag Program for students, currently serving 94 students across five elementary schools with essential meals over the weekend. This initiative highlights the organization’s focus on addressing the needs of children and families in the community.
Sara emphasizes the importance of community collaboration, stating, “We envision a community in which everyone has access to sufficient nutritious food and awareness of community resources.” This vision is realized through partnerships with local organizations and a steady influx of support from dedicated volunteers and donors.
How You Can Help
Sara shares that there are a few ways the community can help support Good Samaritans of Garland:
