Garland, TX – The Office of Dallas County Commissioner Dr. Theresa Daniel, in collaboration with Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, is hosting a free Estate and End-of-Life Planning Seminar on September 18, 2025. The seminar will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Road & Bridge 1 District Office, located at 715 Rowlett Rd, Garland, TX 75043.

This informative seminar will cover essential topics related to estate and end-of-life planning, including:
- Transfer on Death Deeds (TODDs) and Lady Bird Deeds (LBDs)
- Advance Directives and Living Wills
- Powers of Attorney (both Medical and Durable)
- Designation of Beneficiaries and Instructions for Remains
Transfer on Death Deeds are statutory deeds in Texas that allow property to avoid probate, although they may still be subject to estate claims and do not permit alternate beneficiaries. In contrast, Lady Bird Deeds offer greater flexibility, often including a warranty of title and protection against Medicaid estate recovery, making them a valuable resource for estate planning.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about various estate planning tools and how they can protect their assets and wishes. For those who cannot attend in person, a virtual option will be available. Attendees are encouraged to scan the provided QR code to RSVP and secure their spot.
