2025 Garland Neighborhood Awards Celebrate Community Spirit and Engagement

Garland, TX – Despite the heavy rain on Thursday evening, November 20, 2025, residents from across Garland gathered for the annual Garland Neighborhood Awards at Lakewood Brewing Company. This year’s event celebrated the remarkable contributions of neighborhoods and individuals dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging, safety, and engagement throughout the city.

Neighborhood of the Year Award

The prestigious Neighborhood of the Year award was presented to the Riverset Residential Association, recognized for its exceptional community spirit and innovative resident programs. Located near Buckingham Road and Shiloh Road, Riverset has made significant strides in neighborhood beautification and investment efforts throughout 2025.

In her acceptance speech, a representative from Riverset emphasized, “This award reflects our dedication to creating an inclusive and thriving neighborhood where all residents feel empowered to contribute.”

Who’s Who in Garland Award

The Who’s Who in Garland Neighborhoods Award honored Amy Nicholson, a leader within the Riverset neighborhood. Known for her commitment to inclusivity, Nicholson has been a driving force in cultivating a vibrant community. “Being a good neighbor means investing in each other and fostering connections,” she remarked, receiving warm applause from attendees.

Neighborhood Newsletter Competition

Communication plays a critical role in building strong community ties, and this year’s Neighborhood Newsletter Competition recognized the Camelot Neighborhood Association for its publication, “The Knightly News.” This informative newsletter has kept neighbors near Arapaho and Jupiter roads well-informed and engaged in local happenings. The newsletter has garnered numerous awards throughout the years, recognizing the ongoing efforts to maintain regular community updates.

Public Servant Award

The Garland Public Servant Award was awarded to Officer Jordan Murphy of the Garland Police Department. Celebrated for his dedication to building strong relationships with residents, Officer Murphy has worked diligently to foster trust and safety within the community. “It’s an honor to serve the city, and it’s the people of Garland who motivate me every day,” he shared during his heartfelt acceptance speech.
